Due to an overwhelming number of requests from participants across Canada, we’ve extended the festival’s submission deadline.
If there’s one shared experience that has bonded Canadians together throughout this unprecedented time, it’s that we’ve all turned to the media as an escape. Yet, in a moment when we’ve all relied on content creators to distract us from this crisis, so many of them have been disproportionately vulnerable to its economic effects. Remarkably, they haven’t stopped creating. Despite being stuck at home, they’ve taken their talents online, entertaining us on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
Quarantine Stories is an opportunity for these creatives to reach a wider audience. Every short film submission helps us with our ultimate goal of supporting Canada’s creative community via exposure, cash prizes, and charitable donations.
What happens after Submission?
Your submission will be screened by our panel to ensure it adheres to contest guidelines. It will then go live on our website before voting commences on May 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm (PST).
Guidelines For Voters
Voting will be open to audiences across Canada until May 25, 2020 at 11:59 pm (PST). To vote, Canadians must register a profile with quarantinestories.ca and log-in to their account. Once registered, users have the option to rate each submission (out of five stars) one time, but cannot rate films a second time thereafter.
The films that receive the highest number of votes will be reviewed by our panel of judges, who will then determine which five will proceed to the finals. Ultimately, they’ll select a winner based on creativity within the constraints and quality of storytelling.
The festival’s winner will be crowned during a live-streamed event on May 29, 2020 at 6 pm (PST), where we’ll screen the films of all five finalists, facilitate Q&A with the audience, collect money for charity, and more.
We’re proud to be able to award $1500 to our grand prize winner! Tune in to our live-streamed event on May 29th to find out who the winner will be.
